Dr. Brian Magerko is an Associate Professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. He received his B.S. in Cognitive Science from Carnegie Mellon University, and his M.S. and PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. His research interests include computational creativity, cognitive science, interactive narrative and digital game-based learning. His current work is focused on the cognitive modeling of improvisational acting and applying that model to synthetic character behaviors, a virtual coach for medical training, and a inquiry-based learning environment for NASA students to learn about global climate change within a virtual ecosystem. He also maintains "the digital tabletop," a blog about trans-media studies of board and digital games.
