Ivan Allen Jr. Legacy Awards
The Legacy Awards honor faculty and students whose lives and work embody the spirit of Mayor Allen. 2012 winners were announced at the Founder's Day Luncheon March 15. The awards are supported through the generosity of Col. Stephen and Mrs. Pamela Hall.2012 Legacy Award Recipients

Faculty: Dr. Margaret E. Kosal, Assistant Professor,
The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, for extraordinary work in counterterrorism and security issues.

Alumnus: Alexander West, School of Literature, Communication, and Culture (Computational Media) 2006, for leadership of the nonoprofit, WonderRoot, which brings art for social change to communities.

Graduate Student: Nettrice Gaskins, PhD candidate, School of Literature, Communication, and Culture Graduate Program in Digital Media, for her research focusing on culturally-situated game-based learning that is designed to involve under-represented groups in science and math and that explores technological effects on black culture and art.

Undergraduate Student: Kate Wharton, Economics and International Affairs with language focus in Spanish and Arabic, for her leadership of AISEC Georgia Tech, and for humanitarian works including research on microfinance as a tool for alleviating poverty, starting "Volunteer for Bangladesh," and work as part of a team that designed a refugee camp sanitation system.
