Sports On Film Series

Posted February 1, 2016

The Sports, Society and Technology program of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts School of History and Sociology and the Georgia Tech Office of the Arts present Sports on Film, a series of sports films that will be held in the Student Center Theater. Reflecting this year’s Arts@Tech theme of “Get Your Game On,” the program is free and open to the public.

The sports film reveals itself to be the most elastic of cinematic genres, capable of encompassing drama, romance, farce, satire, and social commentary. While sports films have been around since cinema’s inception, the Sports on Film series at Georgia Tech will examine how the sports film reinforces and critiques issues of race, nation, gender, celebrity, and fan culture.
